General description

The Xenopus Biological Resource Centre is a ISO 9001 certified service unit of the french CNRS (National Centre for Scientific Research) and University of Rennes 1.
It was founded in 2002 out of the French national Xenopus breeding center and a transgenesis platform. The Xenopus frog models (laevis and tropicalis) and their eggs are used in different fields of life science research.
Our missions are to provide biological material, services and technological development on Xenopus models

Activity description
Terms of availability for SMEs

We provide animals and associated products (oocytes, DNA…) and services to public and private research laboratories. We perform experiments on xenopus model organism as a CRO or under collaboration agreements.
Typical experiments are:
- transgenic line generation and rearing.
- gene loss- and gain-of-function.
- tissue or nucleic acid preparation.
- oocytes preparation.
- heterologous gene expression in oocytes.
- electrophysiological oocyte-based compound screening and profiling.

We also participate in grant applications with public and private partners.
