Terms of availability for SMEs
CSL participates e.g. in different Interreg projects in relation with biotechnologies :
a. MICROBIOMED [Microtechnologies for BioMedical applications]
CSL is the Coordinator of this Interreg IVA Euregio Meuse-Rhin project.The project aims at the development of a lab-on-a-chip system for the immunological detection of human diseases, in the framework of the in vitro diagnosis. The developed solution will be biologically functional, medically relevant and economically viable for mass production.
By the combination of biology, medicine with microelectronics, and nanotechnology, a disposable microfluidic cartridge integrated with a prefunctionalized optical biosensor will be developed for the multiplexed molecular detection of antigens. After the microfluidic cartridge containing biological sample is inserted into a fast detection system, the sample is pumped though the biosensor and processed, an optical signal is generated based on the immunoreaction, in relation with the concentration of the pathogen. As a demonstrator, the project is orientated for the detection of tumor markers in breast cancer and ovarian cancer.
b. PLASMOBIO [Advanced microtechnologies for biological instrumentation]
PLASMOBIO groups together biologists, physico-chemists, physicists and micro-technology experts.
The objectives are to improve surfaces characterisation and functionalisation. Using micro-structures, micro-patterning techniques, localised SPR (LSPR), this research project aims to create new plasmonic sensitive interfaces adapted to clinical applications. Optical Integrated Circuits in SPR systems are investigated to create particular sensing arrangements and therefore enhance analysis performances.
By combining these technologies, PLASMOBIO aims to create fully integrated SPR-based biosensors dedicated to medical applications. Therefore, to demonstrate the efficiency of prototypes developed in PLASMOBIO, part of the project will consist in identifying relevant biological models.
